Reader Privacy Policy

Overview

Pindu Reader is operated by Pindu Labs LLC in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This policy covers the Reader at app.readpindu.com and the marketing site at readpindu.com. Pindu does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Information Pindu Collects

Account and subscription. Pindu stores your verified email address, sign-in identity, account dates, trial status, and limited subscription facts. An identity provider handles sign-in. Stripe handles checkout, payment details, billing addresses, taxes, invoices, and subscription management. Pindu receives Stripe identifiers, subscription status, and payment dates, but not your full card number.

Learning and reading. Pindu stores the level and interests you provide, its vocabulary and interest models for you, generated passages, words you look up or mark, reading activity, progress, and related settings. This information is what lets the Reader adapt its text and remember your progress.

AI requests. Pindu sends the text and instructions needed to generate passages, translations, meanings, and speech to its AI providers. Those requests may reflect your vocabulary, interests, and reading context, but Pindu does not send your name, email address, or sign-in identity with them.

Feedback, diagnostics, and usage. If you send feedback, Pindu stores the category, your comment, relevant passage context, app version, and screen. The Reader also records limited usage and diagnostic information, including periodic activity while the app is in use, coarse app and device context, local settings, and errors. Before sign-in, it records that a browser session reached the welcome screen, with its acquisition source and the same limited context, without creating a persistent anonymous profile. These records may include identifiers for your account, installation, browser session, reading session, or passage and help Pindu estimate use, understand whether the product works, and diagnose failures. These usage records do not store your IP address, raw browser user-agent string, or exact device model. Server access logs record ordinary connection information such as your IP address, request time, and browser.

Website activity and correspondence. Google Analytics records page views, referrers, approximate location, browser and device information, and related identifiers on readpindu.com. Pindu also records referral and campaign information, including advertising identifiers, to understand how readers find the service and measure campaign results. For this purpose, Pindu may briefly use connection information, such as IP addresses, to associate signups with recent visits. If you email Pindu, the message and your address are retained so Pindu can respond and maintain its records.

How Pindu Uses Information

Pindu uses information to authenticate you; provide and personalize reading; maintain vocabulary and interest models; process subscriptions; communicate about your account or trial; secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service; and meet legal obligations. Pindu does not make decisions about employment, credit, housing, insurance, or other similarly consequential matters from learner data.

Service Providers and Disclosure

Pindu uses service providers for identity, payments and subscriptions, AI and language features, speech, transactional email, hosting, website delivery, encrypted backups, error monitoring, feedback handling, and website measurement. These providers receive information only as needed for their roles and process it under their own terms and privacy practices.

Pindu may also disclose information when required by law, to protect Pindu or other people, to professional advisers, or as part of a financing, acquisition, reorganization, or transfer of the service.

Retention and Deletion

Account and learning data is generally kept while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account from the Account screen. Deletion cancels an active subscription and removes the sign-in identity and Pindu's active account, learning, passage, feedback, and commercial-delivery records. Residual copies may remain temporarily in routine safety backups. Shared cached material that no longer identifies you may remain until its ordinary expiration.

Diagnostic and access logs are retained for short, bounded operational periods. Content-free usage accounting may be kept longer while an account remains active and is removed on deletion. Copies of feedback and diagnostics held by service providers follow their retention periods. Contact Pindu for help with removal requests.

Your Choices

You may ask for a copy or correction of your Pindu data, or delete your account in the Reader. You can block website analytics through browser settings or a tracker blocker. Questions and requests may be sent to contact@readpindu.com. Pindu may need to verify that a request concerns your account before acting on it.

Security and International Processing

Pindu uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Pindu and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate.

Children

Pindu does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact Pindu so the account can be deleted.

Changes and Contact

Pindu may update this policy as the service changes. Material changes will be reflected in the date above and communicated in the Reader when appropriate.
