Terms of Service
Agreement
These Terms govern your use of Pindu Reader, operated by Pindu Labs LLC. By creating an account or using the Reader, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Reader Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Reader.
Accounts
You must be at least 13 to use the Reader. If you have not reached the age of majority where you live, you may use the Reader or purchase Plus only with permission from a parent or guardian. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your sign-in credentials secure, and for activity under your account. Tell Pindu promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
The Reader
Pindu generates Chinese reading material and adapts it using information about your vocabulary, interests, and reading activity. Generated text, translations, definitions, speech, and learning estimates may be incomplete or inaccurate. The Reader is a language-learning tool, not professional advice, and Pindu does not promise a particular learning result.
Pindu may change features, usage limits, models, or supported services as the product develops. Pindu will give reasonable notice before a material change that adversely affects a paid subscription.
Acceptable Use
Use the Reader only for lawful, personal language learning. Do not try to access another person's account, evade product limits, interfere with the service, use automation that imposes an unreasonable load, submit material you have no right to use, or use Pindu to violate another person's rights or applicable law.
Content and Intellectual Property
You keep any rights you have in material you submit. You give Pindu permission to process that material and your feedback as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Reader. Pindu and its licensors retain their rights in the Reader, its software, design, and other materials. You may use generated passages for personal, noncommercial language learning, but generated material may not be unique to you.
Plans, Billing, Cancellation, and Refunds
Trial and Free. Each new Reader account begins with seven days of Plus access. The trial starts when you complete account setup, does not require a card, and does not convert automatically into a paid subscription. When it ends, your account moves to Free unless you choose Plus. Your passages, learning model, and reading history remain with the account.
Plus. Plus is a paid monthly subscription. The price, currency, and any tax that apply to your purchase are shown in Stripe Checkout before you confirm. By confirming, you authorize Stripe, as merchant of record, to charge the subscription price and applicable tax each month until you cancel.
Cancellation. You can cancel from Account → Manage subscription, which opens Stripe's customer portal. Cancellation stops future renewals and normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Ordinary cancellation does not produce a prorated refund. Permanently deleting your Pindu account cancels Plus immediately and gives up any remaining paid access.
Refunds. Payments are generally non-refundable except where required by law or where Pindu charged you in error. Pindu may issue other refunds at its discretion. To ask about a refund, email contact@readpindu.com. Plus access may end when a refund is issued.
Failed payments and price changes. After a failed renewal, Pindu may allow a short grace period while Stripe retries payment and may then return the account to Free. Pindu will provide notice before a changed price applies to a future renewal so that you can cancel first.
Suspension and Account Closure
You may stop using Pindu at any time, cancel Plus through the Stripe portal linked from the Account screen, or permanently delete your account in the Reader. Pindu may suspend or close an account that materially or repeatedly violates these Terms, threatens the service or another person, or must be restricted by law. Account deletion and ordinary subscription cancellation have the different effects described above.
Third-Party Services
The Reader depends on third-party identity, payment, hosting, email, AI, and speech services. Their terms and availability may affect parts of Pindu. Links to third-party sites do not make Pindu responsible for those sites.
Disclaimers and Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Reader is provided without warranties of uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy of generated material. Pindu Labs LLC's total liability arising from the Reader will not exceed the amount you paid for Plus during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Reader must be brought in a state or federal court located in Massachusetts, and you and Pindu consent to the jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
Changes and Contact
Pindu may update these Terms as the service changes. Material changes will be posted with a new effective date and communicated in the Reader when appropriate. Continued use after the new terms take effect means you accept them.
Questions may be sent to Pindu Labs LLC at contact@readpindu.com.
